Be Careful What You Wish For
The Professor stared aghast at the wild- haired child in front of him.
“O.K. Explain to me again – I think I must be missing something here!”
“I turned her into a rabbit!”
“You turned your Form Tutor into a rabbit? A four-legged creature with long ears, a bobtail and a wiggly -nose type rabbit? Really?”
Molly looked at the floor, twirling one of her unruly curls around a finger, and started to sniffle. “She accused me of cheating in the Magical Melting Moments test!” The tears were starting to trickle from her eyes, “Honestly, it wasn’t me!”
He watched as a large teardrop dripped off the end of the young witch’s nose and took a deep breath in as he tried to keep calm and consider how best to deal with this catastrophe.
“Well, we can deal with the cheating later, it doesn’t explain turning her into a rabbit, does it Molly?”
“Yeah, well….. you see….. I got cross with her as she wouldn’t listen to me….. I know I didn’t cheat… I wouldn’t…honest…”
“Yes, yes – and? Come on girl what happened?”
“I must have muttered summat under my breath coz I was cross, and…..poof…..crash….whizz…..there was fireworks going off everywhere, and I got blown to the back of the class!”
“Yes, but what happened to Miss Mugswat? How did she become a rabbit?”
“Well, I must’ve made this wish under my breath, but I forgot I had my wand in my hand……..and well…. I wished…I wished she’d disappear into a rabbit hole where she belonged… and that was it… last I saw her she had long ears and a tail and was jumping out the window heading to the fields.”
“Didn’t you try and unwish your wish girl?” said the exasperated Professor
“Oh! Didn’t think of that!” she muttered.
